Our love story started with a simple “hello” in August 2023 at a restaurant. That first meeting sparked an ongoing conversation that grew more enjoyable over time, eventually leading us to meet again at church. As we got to know each other, we discovered many shared interests such as our love for food, traveling, watching movies and many other things. We were also surprised to learn that we attended the same alma mater and at that time, Ivan had just begun his master’s degree.
At the core of our relationship is The fear of the Lord . While we share many similarities, we also encountered differences. However, rather than seeing them as obstacles, we embraced them as opportunities for growth. These differences have strengthened us as individuals and as a couple, helping us learn, complement, and support one another.
Getting to know each other has been a journey filled with challenges, but we firmly believe we were brought together for a purpose. Eventually, after Ivan completed his studies, we decided to take the next step : committing to a lifetime together in marriage.
Meeting and getting to know each other has been a journey that wasn’t easy, but we believe we were brought together for a purpose. Eventually, we decided to take this relationship to the next level and move toward marriage after Ivan completed his studies.
From the moment we met, we knew we were meant to be. Our relationship is built on love, trust, and unwavering support. Together, we have explored new places, created unforgettable memories, and embarked on countless adventures. And we can’t wait for the many more that lie ahead!
Marhusip – January 24th, 2025
The first step in our wedding journey began with Marhusip, when Ivan’s family (Paranak) visited the bride’s family (Parboru) to discuss the dowry (sinamot) and other wedding details.
Before our engagement and wedding, we also participated in pre-marital counseling, both online via Zoom and in-person at church, guided by our Priest.
Martumpol – March 8th, 2025
Our Martumpol (pre-marriage vows) ceremony was held at church and led by the Priest. During the service, we publicly declared our commitment to each other, affirming that we have no other partners. Following the vow service, we continued with traditional Batak Toba customs, including marpudun saut and martonggo raja, with the participation of both families, extended relatives, parsahutaon (community members), and clan representatives from both sides.
Now, as we embark on this new chapter, we look forward to walking this journey together, hand in hand, with love and faith guiding our way!
“So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”
