That afternoon, Niko was a doctor in charge of the emergency room, as he had been for the past two years at a hospital in Solo City. However, something unusual happened that day. He received a homecare call duty, which was supposed to be during regular policlinic working hours. The call was about an elderly woman complaining of vertigo and nausea. Without any expectations, Niko and his paramedic team went out to respond to the call. They arrived at a large gray steel door on a small alley in the center of the city. After ringing the bell, a middle-aged woman opened a small door beside the large one and warmly welcomed them, leading them to the patient’s room, which turned out to be her mother’s.
As they passed through the living room, they were guided through a connecting door to an old house with dim lighting. They entered a room where the old sick woman was lying in bed. Niko was surprised when he saw his patient because the woman turned out to be his former Mandarin teacher from junior and senior high school, whom he hadn’t seen in the past eight years. They were happily reunited, and during the examination, the vertigo and nausea symptoms disappeared. The patient’s blood pressure, heart rate, and other vital signs were normal. Niko prescribed her some vitamins and gastric acid medication, and that was all she needed. Before leaving, they joked about introducing her granddaughter to him. Out of respect for his ex-teacher, Niko responded by giving her his personal number.
Days went by, and it turned out she was quite serious about introducing her granddaughter to Niko. She even sent him some photos and repeatedly praised her granddaughter, stating that she was a brilliant dentistry medical student who loved to dance and minister at the church. Niko wasn’t sure at the time, but because he didn’t want his ex-teacher to feel bad, he ended the conversation by asking for the Instagram username of her granddaughter.
