Our Love Story
During the heart-warming setting of the HMCC Congregational Retreat in 2017, life playfully brought together two souls destined for a delightful love story – Matt and Anne. Introduced by a friend, their first encounter seemed ordinary, yet little did they know that the magic of ‘meant to be’ was just beginning to weave its web. As life carried them along divergent paths after the retreat, Anne jetted off to the lively streets of London to pursue her master’s degree, while Matt embarked on a thrilling career journey in the bustling city of Jakarta. But God had other plans in store for them.
Pandemic has reunited them in 2021 through online meeting connection and biking together with friends. In the virtual world, they discovered each other anew, and a spark of fascination began to kindle. As their relationship blossomed, Matt and Anne playfully delved into each other’s hobbies. With a zest for adventure, Matt led them on journeys of discovery to new and exciting places. Meanwhile, Anne’s passion for food and devotion to her work added a delectable flavour to their love story.
During their relationship, they discovered that their birthdays aligned perfectly – a shared celebration each year. From then on, their birthdays became a double dose of merriment and love. Matt proposed to Anne on their third birthday together as a couple by taking Anne to birthday dinner celebration and popped the question as they casually strolled a bridge,. Anne said yes and their birthday together with the proposal was then celebrated together with their church friends.
